    What’s theWIPlist?

    theWIPlist measures the presence of the most referenced people in the network, that is, the number of pages in which a character appears, and values the positive or negative views. The portal counts initially with more than 50,000 records and 600,000 lists of the most Web Important People.

    Politicians, comedians, football players, journalists, chefs, actors or singers, this new portal includes lists of 185 countries and 16 categories and dozens of subcategories that include thousands of names and their corresponding references on the Internet.

    What’s a WIP?

    The Web Presence is the number of pages in which a celebrity is mentioned. It does not matter wether it is a good or a bad opinion. To be a WIP, you have to count with, at least, 30.000 references on the web. presence in thousands pages.

    How it’s works?

    To rank the popularity, this portal makes use of special Bots. They surf the Internet looking for information, digesting it and using statistical techniques to make the lists. Bots can read all kind of pages, but, in order to be a mirror of who’s making the news, they pay special attention to news sites and blogs. This permitting it be more sensitives with the current affairs.

    Our Bots can differentiate when a site is refering to George Bush Sr. or Jr or even a bush.

    Whose makes theWIPlist?

    This new project has been developed by Prisacom – the company of PRISA that collects the online business of the group – in collaboration with the company Buzztrend, and means a big step forward in the use of the semantic web.
